In 1981, an acquisition of four acres from Dale Severin marked the beginning of a transformative journey for Hallam Community Park and Ball Field. Positioned southwest of the cemetery and adjoining the northwest corner of the Village, this parcel of land was procured through the collaborative efforts of various community organizations, leveraging funds raised through dedicated events.
 
The vision for Hallam Community Park began to materialize in the 1980s. The ball field underwent significant development, with grading, the installation of chain-link fences, a backstop, and dugouts. The outfield was adorned with lush grass, and the addition of ball field lights and a lighted scoreboard illuminated the sports arena. A modern concession stand featuring indoor restrooms was erected, complemented by playground equipment, a picnic shelter, and the thoughtful planting of trees to enhance recreational experiences.
 
The Hallam Booster Club played a pivotal role in fundraising initiatives during this period, contributing nearly $16,000 to the lighting fund. The community’s united efforts manifested in tangible improvements and expansions.
 
Over the years, the park witnessed continuous enhancements. In 1995, the Hallam Booster Club installed new playground equipment, enriching the recreational offerings. Following the unfortunate damage caused by the 2004 tornado, the community rallied once again, conducting repairs, implementing improvements, and introducing numerous new trees to restore the park’s splendor.
 
The Hallam Community Park and Ball Field received further embellishments with the establishment of a batting cage and, in 2012, the installation of a vibrant splash pad. This exciting addition, made possible with the support of dedicated community volunteers, continues to bring joy and refreshment during the summer months. The story of the park is a testament to the enduring spirit and collaborative endeavors of the Hallam community, creating a space for recreation and connection for generations to come.

It’s a great opportunity for community members to come together, share ideas, and actively participate in shaping the future of our beloved Hallam Park. Your presence and input are highly valued as we work towards enhancing our community spaces. We look forward to seeing you there!”
